Profile Grinding
This can be a cost saving one step grinding method to replace common multiple step OD grinders when a part has several diameters
In profile grinding, the part moves in axially between the grinding wheels, stop for grinding, and then moves out again. The wheel can be dressed to form more complex shapes, but the part can only get progressively smaller in diameter. Profile or End-Feed grinding is illustrated below.
